Surreal Photography images are creative, clean and crisp. They’re romantic, fun, and emotional. I have developed a unique style of wedding photography that is deeply rooted in wedding photojournalism while influenced by fine-art and classic portraiture. I pride myself on not just being a photographer, but rather an artist creating unique and expressive imagery.
What helps you sleep at night is having peace of mind knowing that you will forever cherish images that capture true emotions, fleeting moments, and once in a lifetime gatherings of those who you hold dearest in your life.
What exactly does all of this mean? Well, let’s get into the specifics of what makes my style unique. Here are a few talents and techniques that differentiate Surreal Photography from the rest.

Always in search of great light, silhouettes, foregrounds, perfect symmetry, and juxtapositions, my style is deeply rooted in creativity. As I'm shooting, you'll see me moving up, down, and all around to add depth and atmosphere to compliment the shot. This leads to creative perspectives that turn photographs into art.
Wedding Photojournalism takes awareness of surroundings, knowledge of human tenancies, and patience. This is key to capturing moments as they happen. Each image captures an emotion, tells a story, or portrays a mood or feeling.
I'm always paying close attention to environment, listening in on conversations and anticipating that smile, laugh, tear, or hug. I have my crop in mind, my lighting set up perfectly, and I’m waiting for that expression.
I'm always aware of things like necklace clasps, unflattering angles, and awkward expressions. At the same time, I’m creating an environment where you’re comfortable and your personalities and affection are the focal point of the image. I’ll also be sure to come up with poses that focus on your positive physical aspects.
These skills help to find beauty in everyone and everything.
Photography is painting with light and the better the light, the better the photographs. You can see some of my advanced flash techniques in my church and reception photos. If you can't tell I used a flash in my outdoor photos then it's working perfect.
When there is little light to be found, I have my own ready to go. Off camera lighting is extremely important for weddings as many churches and reception halls tend to be quite dark. This is where experience really shows.
I capture the details of your wedding with the same attention and with many of the same techniques as I’ve described above. Your day moves quickly and while you may not have the time to sit back and fully appreciate your cake, I’ll be sure to have gorgeous pictures of it.
I have saved the most important part for last. My goal as your photographer is to help create a relaxed and fun atmosphere for you to be yourselves. This is key to capturing images that are true emotions and moments.
Having a calm, friendly, and engaging photographer is paramount to helping couples through their big day. Not too pushy, not too quiet. Someone who knows when to disappear into the background to capture candid moments, and to speak up when needed to wrangle wedding parties and family to efficiently get the photos while having fun at the same time.
And don’t forget, I take some pretty cool landscape shots too.
